Megan close to Gold

Megan held her Gold kick-off event on February 3rd with a project that brings two groups together:  Emergency Medical Services and the Deaf Community.  Megan, along with an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, led the monthly first responder’s training meeting at the Killingworth fire station.  Participants learned simple signs to help them communicate with someone who is deaf should it become necessary in an emergency situation.  EMTs from Killingworth, Salem, and Mystic now have Megan’s presentation materials and handouts to share in an effort to continue educating additional EMTs.  Her project was so well received she has been asked to present to the New London County first responders in the near future.  Finally, Megan filmed her presentation which will be uploaded to YouTube so that first responders can refresh their ASL signs at any time.
