Sydney on the Road to Gold

Sydney held a successful kick-off event teaching water safety to children ages 5-10. Her project, “Keep Your Head Up” was intended for young children to be more proactive in real-life situations.  At her event, participants learned about water safety and experienced water rescue techniques.  The session was divided between pool-time and classroom time, both with trained instructors.  Sydney’s event was held at the Valley Shore YMCA who is incorporating her program into their Splash Week and summer camp programs.  In addition, Sydney created a brochure which will be available at the YMCA and eventually on their website. Here are photos from her event, the majority of which focus on one participant in both sessions in deference to the YMCA’s strict photography policies.
